Do some restaurant payment pads have the highest tip pre-selected or are the servers doing that?

This happened 2 times going to iHop with my grandmother. The server comes with the payment pad and it has the highest tip option already highlighted, one of these 2 times I think I saw the server click it just before handing it to me? So on Sunday I was called into work because we lost our internet. I was shocked to see how slow it was, I haven't worked Sunday in 7 years. my servers told me that this is normal anymore,we don't even have a wait list. I've been at this place for 26 years and we always used to run 5 to 6 servers and we were always on a wait list on a Sunday morning. Now we run with a three girl and no wait list....

u/wolfpaxhdd Food was really good, we had a variety of stuff but i really loved the Cinnamon Bun Crepe! The restaurant was relatively empty at the time we came so it was more quieter for us.

Wait times

Have yall noticed that Asian places are the best too pickup from? And chain places are definitely the worst (wingstop, chick fil a, ihop) Crazy the difference in customer service. I always end up accepting the Asian ones because they are GUARANTEED to be ready and I waste no time and it's great. Why can't can't restaurants be like them??
