Disappointing quality control

So this may or may not be a niche issue, but I've had three 17PM at this point (exchanged twice), and all three have had minor to moderate scuffs, cosmetic defects, or just weird issues. Finally convinced my wife to get a MacBook.

After contemplating for months, my wife decided to get a MacBook Air. She got a M4 15", and just today it arrived in Japan from China (we had to order it from the workshop since the Apple stores here don't have the US keyboard). Here's a picture of her M4 15" next to my M3 15". Can you guess which is which?
