What to do about sticky keys after spill on MacBook Pro?

Yesterday I spilt some sparkling maple water on my keyboard and some of the keys became sticky. I went to the apple store and this isn't covered by warranty but apple care does so is it worth buying apple care to get them to fix it as my device is still pretty new so i can add it on. Also due to the water damage the warranty is now essentially void apparently. Any advice?
