Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data StoreNear.me (“Store Near Me”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have. It should be read together with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

StoreNear.me is a free online store locator that helps people find stores, opening hours and locations in the United States and worldwide. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and similar laws, Store Near Me is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Contact for all privacy questions: chedhoung (at) yandex.com or our contact page.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Search terms you enter, such as a store name, city or ZIP code.
  • Messages you send through our contact form or by e-mail (your name, e-mail address and message).
  • Requests from business owners to add, correct or remove a listing.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, language, referring page, pages viewed, date and time of visit.
  • Approximate location derived from your IP address (city or region level).
  • Precise location, only if you allow it in your browser. It is used in your browser to show nearby stores and is not stored on our servers.
  • Cookie and similar identifiers, as described in our Cookie Policy.

Games

Scores in our free browser games are saved only in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to us.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive data such as health information, financial account numbers or government ID numbers.

3. How we use your information and legal bases

  • To provide the service – show store results, maps and opening hours (legitimate interest in running the website; performance of a contract where you request something from us).
  • To reply to you – answer messages and listing requests (legitimate interest; your request).
  • To keep the site safe – prevent spam, bots, abuse and fraud, including ad fraud (legitimate interest).
  • To understand usage – statistics that help us improve pages (your consent where required by law, otherwise legitimate interest).
  • To show advertising – which keeps the service free (consent for personalised ads where required; legitimate interest for non-personalised ads and fraud prevention).
  • To comply with the law – respond to lawful requests from authorities (legal obligation).

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).

Other approved third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on our site through Google. Their names and privacy policies are listed in the consent message and in Google’s list of ad technology providers. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform that uses the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Personalised ads are only shown if you consent; otherwise you may see non-personalised or limited ads.

5. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages visited, approximate location and device information. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland analytics cookies are only used with your consent (Google Consent Mode). You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share data only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting, content delivery and security (for example Cloudflare), under contracts that protect your data.
  • Advertising and analytics partners such as Google, as described above.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
  • A successor if the website is sold or transferred, under the same protections.

Under some US state laws, the use of advertising cookies for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See section 9 for how to opt out.

7. International data transfers

Our service providers and partners may process data in the United States and other countries outside your own. When personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep data

  • Server and security logs: normally no longer than 90 days.
  • Messages and listing requests: as long as needed to handle them, and no longer than 24 months.
  • Cookies: for the periods shown in our Cookie Policy.

We may keep data longer where the law requires it or to settle disputes.

9. Your privacy rights

EEA, UK and Switzerland

You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

United States (including California)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. You can opt out using the privacy message shown to visitors in those states, through Google Ads Settings, or by turning on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights.

How to make a request

Contact us at chedhoung (at) yandex.com. We will answer within the time required by law (usually one month under the GDPR, 45 days under US state laws). We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Ads on pages are not intended for children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, access controls and security services to protect data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-party links and content

Our pages may contain links to store websites, maps and news headlines from third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please read their privacy policies before giving them any information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. If the changes are significant, we will show a notice on the website.

14. Contact us

For any question about this policy or your personal data, contact us at chedhoung (at) yandex.com or through our contact page.
