Starting tomorrow, nervous

Hi folks, I'm a 45 year old autistic Trans woman. I've been big all my life - raised by a mother who was overweight, in a sedentary life style, and never saw the need for weight loss. I was enormous. About 7 years ago my first summer where I had my own place after moving from my home in NY to Kentucky with my family after helping my mother through a long illness and my own income, and everything ...

Making my directorial debut! My siblings and I are raising a $1k budget for our psychological horror short, "Who's There...?".

Hey everyone. I posted here recently about a short horror film I'm trying to make, and someone gave me some tough but incredibly helpful advice. I realized my original post and campaign didn't tell you who I was, what the movie was actually about, or how the funds would be used. I also used a QR code instead of a link (my bad!). Link to the campaign: https://gofund.me/d728f2e45 Who Am I? ...

Attending Pitt without a car

I recently got accepted to the master of public administration program at Pitt and I just took a tour on friday, but unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time so I didn't get a clear look on the neighborhoods where a lot of the grad students live, like Shadyside and Squirrel hill. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences / advice to share about the feasability of attending Pitt without ownin...

How to Stop Overcomplicating Your Life: Practical Stoicism That Actually Works

Most of us are drowning in our own overthinking. We turn simple decisions into existential crises, inflate minor setbacks into catastrophes, and somehow convince ourselves that everything needs to be perfectly analyzed before we can move forward. I've spent way too much time researching this (yeah, ironic) through books, psychology research, and philosophy podcasts because this pattern was eatin...

Transit update report coming to council

Guinness Extra Stout brewed in Ireland is no more in the US?

At all the grocery stores in my area, there's a "Guinness Extra Stout", sure, but it's not made in Dublin by Guinness. It's made in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The Irish stuff used to be everywhere, even in my small town. Not anymore. They even changed the 'Bold and Bittersweet' flavor profile marketing to 'Dark and Lively', hint-hinting, and wink-winking that it's a different recipe, but not...

I’m over these tantrums

2 year old tantrums are so terrible. We just got home from a trip to the grocery store where our toddler had a full-blown meltdown for 5 minutes. I am currently 8 months pregnant, and have terrible groin and round ligament pain. Though I’m fairly fit, I can’t hold him for long without being in some serious pain. He sat in the grocery car seat just fine for the first half of the shopping. T...

AIO: I can’t stand this stupid TikTok trend

Have you ever seen those TikTok’s where someone is doing a “fridge/restock”? If you haven’t it’s where someone presumably goes to a grocery store to buy whatever they need but once they return to unload said grocery’s they set up a camera towards their fridge/pantry where they have tons of pre bought containers that they use instead of the containers the goods all ready come in. For ex...

Sleep Limbo

Hello, so I'm making this post now while everything is still in my head but I've been suffering serious issues with my sleep for a long time now. I am a chronic double sleeper and sleep twice a day often due to issues with not getting enough sleep and excessive fatigue throughout the day. When I go to bed during normal times I only get 6 hours of sleep not because of an alarm or anything but simpl...

I'm absolutely mortified.

I think I fucked up and did something I never, ever wanted to do. I think I made a very nice woman uncomfortable, and I'm literally spiraling because of it. For some context: I have been incredibly lonely. I'm a little over a year into my transition in a small town, with absolutely no friends. There are no local queer groups and it has been a nightmare finding people who are on the same page as m...

Getting started

Hey everyone, I love the idea of this subreddit. I currently have Ibotta, Fetch, and Swagbucks installed, but everything just results in me getting stuff slightly discounted. I have not managed to get a single thing for free. Any advice? What other resources do you suggest I use to get free stuff from the grocery store?

Back in office and want to help my anxious dog when I’m gone

My new job has a hybrid work schedule where I need to be back in office 3x/week. I’ve been remote since 2020 and my dog (8, male, Samoyed) has been my shadow pretty much that entire time. Not only did he have separation anxiety before when I was in office 5x/week, I think it has been amplified over the last few years. He’s stressed out with me just going to the grocery store, always barking ...

Late to the Pastrami Party

Cheater method. Desalinated a couple grocery store corned beefs this week, pastrami seasoning cure for a couple of days then smoked with beech and oak. Dark rye, swiss, thousand island slaw, pickles and mustard with a side of dill pickle Lays. Turned out better than my house cured one last year.
