Got gifted a Gourami during dirty Santa. Please help

I recently received a Gourami at a work dirty Santa. Bought at a pet store and added as a joke to a box. He looks rather grey and I don't know anything about this little dude...or much about fish in general. What do I need for him temporarily until I can get a proper aquarium set up with plants and things. Tank size, substrate, are plastic plants ok, etc. Please help.

Bulbs or light or both?

Our bulbs keep failing. We thought it was the lamp and replaced it then the light bulb still didn’t work so we replaced the bulb five days ago and it’s flickering again. This is what our local pet store sells! If I bought some off Amazon what brand would you recommend?
