Shoe arrived from Amazon with extremely sharp nail inside (CA, USA)

Location: California I ordered several different pairs of ankle boots and knee high boots on Amazon from a well known brand. Over the last few years, I’ve purchased a few other pairs of shoes from this brand at department stores and thought the quality was pretty good. The shoes are not cheap - $150-350 per pair. Almost every pair from this order had significant quality issues but most of t...

Like Hunting? Well... soon that will be a thing of the past.

# The Issue #1 Your Hunting Ground is Up for Sale If you’re a guy who lives for opening day, who trusts his boots more than a boardroom, or who just wants to take his kids camping without seeing a "Private Property" sign every ten feet, you need to look at the fine print of Project 2025 which was pushed through by republicans last year. **The Patriot’s Perspective:** Since the days...

Help Needed to Identify the History Behind this Bike.

My only guess is that it was some sort of High End department store bike from the mid 90s. Internet searches revealed nothing, but it appears to be a high-quality aluminum bike. The serial number is stamped **3D0027 USA**, and there appears to be a faded “Made in USA” sticker on the seat tube. The components were mostly Shimano M737, with the exception of the XT thumb shifters. Sorry, I for...

Blackout Zone Five

Honestly when I mention this to people, no one else seems to remember this. I’m not sure why this seems to linger in my mind every night. When I mention the riots in 95 they talk about the riots in LA. They don’t remember the sirens screaming all night. They don’t remember the men in gas masks knocking on every door, telling us to leave. The shortages, the fear, the paranoia, the evacuation...

Hector P. Valenti, star of stage and screen, surprises Lyle multiple times by unexpectedly placing himself in occupational situations that happen to coincide with Lyle's whereabouts. First as a department store pajama salesman, then as a zookeeper. At the end of the book, Hector leaves for Australia. However, decades later his entertainment career has burned out and he finds himself back in th...

I Can't Stand Customers At Closing Time!

I worked for a well known major American discount department store chain. Just before closing each of the department workers are required to go to the service desk and pick up the returns people returned for one reason or another and we would take them back to our departments and put them back on the shelf(s). About 5 minutes before closing, We were looking at the clock and employees making sma...

Searching for new conditioner

My beloved conditioner is no longer in stock and I'm at a total loss of what to get to replace it, RIP Giovanni Tea Tree Conditioner. I'm looking for recommendations that might fit in a similar category. Why I loved it: -Lightweight and yet great slip. -Includes protein (soybean) -It does not include coconut, Aragon, or other oils that can be too heavy for my hair. -It includes Aloe, as well as s...

Short horror film with mannequins

I've tried googling this, and it's not "Still Life". That movie is too recent I have somewhat vague memories of watching The Toxic Avenger on the USA Network about 30 years ago when I was about 12 years old. I think I remember seeing this short horror movie with mannequins aired as an intermission during the Toxic Avenger, or possibly right after the movie concluded From what I recall...

Red Band Stick Candy

I used to eat this candy as a kid and teen in the 90s and 00s. It's amazing and very nostalgic for me. I remember it being soft like the "Bob's Sweet Stripes" soft peppermint candy that's pretty easy to find around the US in department stores. It's made by the Helms Candy Company in Bristol, VA from what I can find online, and I managed to find an online retailer that carries it. The r...

Everyday must dos, must eats, etc, for an American's first time in Australia (Sydney specifically)? Things that are just.. different, here?

I was just in Japan and one example of what I mean is the konbini/7-11s. You can find convenience marts everywhere, but in Japan, they feel SPECIAL. (Don't even get me started on the trains.. and the bidets in every restroom.. 😭) Anything like that in NSW? Everyday things that I shouldn't miss, part of life down here for a lot of locals? Edit: Not necessarily looking for a comparison to Japan...

Who ITA here?

Person 1 is going out of the country for a funeral and asking for donations/help for trip costs. Person 2 is coming into town while person 1 will be away and offers to rent person 1 vehicle to help them monetarily, it will also save person 2 money vs a rental car company. Helping both parties out. Person 2 doesn’t drive most days so rarely rents a car when visiting and just rides with family/fr...

THIS is the FIRST american HEAVY METAL band...

MC5 (Motor City Five) are legendary American rock pioneers, often called proto-punk, but their raw, loud, politically charged sound with blistering guitars and hard edge heavily influenced early heavy metal, punk, and grunge. Even in the late 1960s, their intense, garage-rock-infused sound, particularly the guitar work of Wayne Kramer, was far heavier and more aggressive than most bands, fores...

LAES, Mega DD

Transparency edit: please check the replies u/chntiong had valid questions concerning the Arizona facility. I've dug around and while I'm not currently concerned, this invalidates the ASML comparison currently. I feel that LAES is attempting to do an M&A instead of building from the ground up. If an M&A occurs then the ASML comparison would be back on the table: * **Vertical Integ...

Reax Near You When Beatles Are Played

I’m just trying to get a sense of how global the Beatles remain today on the brink of 2026… Let’s say you’re at your nearest town big enough to have the following: A casual “dive” bar… An upscale cocktail lounge… A department store or grocery store… And a public park or beach or similar. A popular Beatles song begins playing out loud (let’s say “All You Need Is Love...
