Latest Discussions and Reviews About Whole Foods Market Stores in USA

A friend and former SSV wrote this back in 2019 still holds up today

Lately I've been watching a lot of Gorden Ramsey's kitchen nightmares and it got me thinking. One of the things that made those restaurants fail was too large of a menu.Sounds a lot like Starbucks doesn't it? I remember when Starbucks was going to simplify the menu but that was a lie instead it just added on a bunch more overly complex multi step drinks that just take extra long to make. Having to...

After years away from coding, I got back into it by learning Expo and building this app. What do you think?

Hey everyone, Life took me away from coding for several years, but I always felt that itch to build something again. I recently decided to dive back in, starting from scratch with React Native and Expo, and I've finally finished my first real project: an app called **Edify**. **What it is:** Edify is a food and cosmetic scanner, inspired by apps like Yuka. You scan a barcode, and it uses AI (t...

Big Island trip report (still can’t believe our luck with catching the Kilauea eruption 🌋)

Took a family trip to Big Island (4 adults, 2 grandparents, 1 toddler). First time in Big Island but we have been to Hawaii before (Maui, Oahu and Kauai). We stayed in Waikoloa the entire time and drove all over the island, with a mix of relaxation at beaches and the resort, and some excursions for snorkeling and volcanoes. Overall had such a good time even though it was only 5 full days (plus two...

Is this a stain or mold? It didn’t wipe off.

I just opened this can of beans and noticed what looks like mold. I eat canned beans about once a week and don’t think I’ve noticed this type of staining on a can. It wouldn’t wipe off when I tried. There was no damage to the can. I just tossed it, because I already feel like I inhaled or touched botulism or something 😅

[HR] Stay Away From the Cenotes in Mexico

(Part 1/2 repost because I made format corrections) “Stay away from the Cenotes in Mexico” My dad’s side of the family all reside in Mexico City. Once or twice a year our family goes to visit, nothing particularly spectacular ever happened on these trips. Of course these trips would be incomplete without throwing a big party with all the staples of a Mexico City bash: A full mariachi, d...

Tell me what you think so far.

1. It was a slow Thursday afternoon. I was drenched on the couch of my small apartment. The coming of summer hadn’t been gentle and had trapped the city under a barely livable dome of hot, still air. Almost coincidently, my AC unit had broken down — for the first time in almost one year the Japanese tech had failed me. I was trapped in an oven, where no opened window configuration would br...

I dropped out of college to work at an Old-Folks Home, and now I can't sleep at night

This is a confession. And a warning. I wish I could say nothing, but I know I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. This is the least I can do, posting this. I can only hope it will be enough. About a year ago, I was in a rough patch. I was in college and my grades were plunging straight into the ground. I had stopped caring about school when my only friend had been killed in a car accident a...
