Pet supply store coded as gas station but only on one card

Pretty much title. A pet supplies plus store that my dog and I frequently visit is coded as gas station on my amex Hilton card. Pleasant surprise as it gives me 5×hilton points which I value as around 3%, maybe a little more. I've tried it on my other cards (both amex and non-amex) and transactions on all other cards code correctly as general merchandise. Any idea why? I'm just curious

I found him up for adoption for $30 at a Pet Supplies Plus store. I'm experienced in Bearded care, but not very well versed in the different varieties. Can someone help me identify what his coloring/morph is called? He's rather smooth, smoother than a standard, but I'm not quite sure if he's a leatherback or not.
