Independent pet shop told me two days ago to do a 50% water change as ammonia and PH were high. They were happy to sell me fish (I didn’t, as I don’t want unhappy fish and read ammonia is a no). Did the change 2 days ago, and tested at home today. What’s next?

I don’t really trust the shop as they were happy to sell me fish into a high PH, high ammonia tank. I don’t want my fish to be unhappy/dead! What’s the next step? The shop recommended another water change in a few days, wait a few days, then go back for another test. I’m going to add a piece of driftwood today, as it’s got planes but no wood and I’ve read wood is great for the bacteria...

yesterday i visited a pet shop and saw these two little labrador pups who were in a small cage. I feel so bad for them. They were selling them for 12k damn. They were so cute. They should not be treated like this. They were not even smiling. I couldn't do anything. They were just 20 days old and got separated.
