What do I need?

Hi! Here’s the current setup for my goldfish and their size. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s all I can manage right now. I’m not sure what type of goldfish they are, but I was wondering what exactly I need to care for them properly. I’ve read that goldfish often eat aquarium plants, but the ones I’ve seen doing that seem much larger than mine. Right now, I have some rocks, water condit...

Any tips or personal stories about your ratties would be awesome! ...

We got him yesterday.. 😁

Hey all, yesterday we got our first ball python, never had one before, just wanted to check if you have any advice... 🙂 Yesterday he checked everything, he was all over the place, but foday, he's a bit shy, spent most of the day in the corner. He is also shedding at the moment, so that might be the case. I have cleaned his skin today and changed water as well, he did move from the hideout to...

Tiny Invader

Hello, I have a bioactive terrarium I am setting up that will eventually house a gargoyle gecko. I have been letting the plants/clean up crew flourish and settle in for a couple of months now and today I noticed this tiny unidentified plant growing out of the bark in the back of the tank. The bark is from a Siberian Elm tree but it has been thoroughly baked prior to being added and the only other ...

I work at a pet store and would like any basic knowledge of aquarium maintenance

As I said in the title I work at a pet store. Currently at the store we have one aquatic specialists, however she does pretty much all of the maintenance for every animal in the store which would reasonably put a large amount of stress on them. For the past couple weeks I’ve been looking up information on all the different types of fish and animals we own. I’ve done research on some fish and a...

Feeding help please

Hi everyone! I’m a first-time bearded dragon owner. I’ve always been fascinated by reptiles (I’ve had more of an interest in snakes and lizards), but I never imagined owning a bearded dragon. That all changed a few months ago when I visited a pet store and saw this little cutie in terrible condition. My heart couldn’t take it, so I decided to take her right then and there. I’ll admit, I ...

Any advice about people reactivity, as in becoming deaf to correction while lunging and jumping on people?

My almost 5 month old puppy is vary good boy. And very cute. My biggest training issue with him is reactivity around new people. He loves people and will lunge on the leash repeatedly trying to jump up on them. This is the only time he will completely ignore me. He can't seem to stop himself. I've been able to get him to stop as long as we are only around people who will ask first and follo...

Bonding but sold the wrong gender please help!

Hi everyone, I really need a bit of help here! On new year's eve one of our pair (biscuit) got injured in an accident and passed away a few days later, we were sold them from a mainstream pet store as males in November 2023 at about 8 weeks old. We were all super sad but we wanted to concentrate on the gerbil left (flash) and get a companion for them. After reading quite a bit it sounded as thou...

Depressed and somewhat hopeless in raising pet birdies

Hello everyone For some context 3 years ago I bought a pair of lovebirds for my grandfather, he took care of them and I helped as I could and they were pretty healthy and happy until suddenly out of the blue one of them started falling asleep very often and looking weak. Unfortunately that lovebird passed away and we kept buying a lil partner for the male one so he wouldn’t stay alone and happy....

Rate my first (successful) aquascape

All the hardscape is from a stream outside, I added java fern, african water fern, rotala, dwarf hair grass, and big duckweed. The plants I found is a smaller but native duckweed, along with some moss/algae in the top middle which I cant identify. I also have a peace lily propped up on a rock. The fish is a rescue betta fish (was near death when I bought it) and two male endlers. I also added blad...

Black Molly Companion?

I have had a solitary male black molly for about 1.5 months. He seems happy and healthy to me, is quite active and very curious. He sometimes glass surfs when I'm testing/changing water. But this video is how he behaves when he doesn't know I'm there. It's my first aquarium, and the pet store employees didn't know much more than me. I was recently told that mollies shouldn't be kept solitary, ...

Substrate question.

I got my guy about 5 months ago from petsmart. Don't come at me. I didn't know a fraction of what I know now about pet store beardies. So far no issues. Anyway, unsure of age. He was a new add (very small/young) to the pet store shortly before I adopted him, if that gives any indication on possible age I currently use the black reptile mat but have been pondering switching to loose substrate. The...

Taste of the Wild

Anyone here feed Taste of the Wild or Diamond and heard of changes? My local pet store was completely out of stock of all varieties of both foods, and when I asked about it, they said they haven't had it for weeks, would be getting more Thursday, and that the company just said 'they were making changes' . Curious if anyone else has heard this?
