Photo printer tips?

So you can edit photos on canva, and I was wondering is it a wise idea to ignore the danger zone? It says the danger zone means it could get cut off during printing but i noticed while editing that if the photo is inside the danger zone it is smaller than the intended size so its not fully 5x7 or 8x10. Any advice? Also glossy or matte? What's the difference?
