574 “2E” (wide) vs “D” (regular)

Does anyone know if the 574 “2E” (one level wider than D) looks wider in appearance? Or does it only feel wider? I ask because I like the 574s and their colorways, but I don’t like how slim and pointy they are. If they looked just a bit wider I think I’d be happy. I popped by a New Balance store but they didn’t have any 2E in stock to try on.

Is it out of the ordinary for a New Balance store to be locally owned? The only New Balance store I have within 3 hours is locally owned and they NEVER have any new releases, especially collabs or limited drops. They never know anything about them either. They say they aren't 'Corporate' so maybe those go hand in hand...?
