# Building my first dedicated homelab box. Been running everything on a Synology and it works fine for storage but it's the wrong box for compute. Hitting limits not because my workloads are heavy but because a NAS shouldn't be doing this job. Plan is Proxmox on bare metal, local NVMe for active workloads, Synology stays for bulk/shared storage. Boring on purpose. # What I actually run Mostly...
# Building a home server for running Proxmox (Linux hypervisor) — mostly Docker containers, self-hosted services, some dev work. Runs 24/7 in AZ so thermals and idle power matter. No gaming, no GPU planned as of now but want optionality to add one later (small local LLM + low end gaming) Have a Micro Center nearby so buying the core bundle there. Hello, it has been a very, very long time since I did a build, maybe 12-13 years. Currently I have a 2500K on a Z77 with 16GB DDR3 and a RX580 8GB. I'm looking at the various MC bundles, and trying to decide what the best route for me is. I know anything I get is going to be a pretty substantial upgrade at this point. Option A: Big Boy CPU/RAM and hold off on GPU upgrade * Either the 7800X3D bun...

Hi all, I’m extremely new to 3-D printing but doing some research the P1 and P2S have come up quite a bit. Micro Center has both. After doing some reading, it looks like most people are recommending the combo variants. The base P1S is $400. The P1 S combo is $549. The base P2S is $549. And lastly, the P2 S combo is $800. I’m assuming that I need to get a combo ferry for the best experience. I...
I have been a console player since PS1 and with the way console industry is going, I’m thinking of switching to PC. I have no idea where to even begin and was thinking of doing the “build a pc” at micro center to learn more about PC’s, but also saw this prebuilt. Just wanted some recommendations if the prebuilt is better or do the build a PC to start to gather more knowledge about the PC w...

So I built my pc back in 2018…. Wasn’t a super great one, I just wanted something to run all my 3d printers. Well it’s not good enough to upgrade to windows 11 so I was going to build a new one. I’m not someone who knows what parts are good (ie graphics cards and such (I thought the higher the number the better it is lol). Anyways after doing research and pricing I was recommended on buyin...
