Shelf Sleuth is afraid of losing her Diamond status🤭🤭🤭

It really upsets me to know that I’ll be penalized for the store’s stocking issues... For example, Kroger staff are often very late in restocking produce in the mornings, or the shelves are empty by the evenings. To maintain a high shopping quality, I have to account for too many variables, which sometimes causes me to miss out on good batches. Most of the time, when the shelves start to run ...

Does your budgeting app actually help you before you spend, or just track what already happened?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I'm curious if this is just me. Every budgeting tool I've used seems much better at telling me what already happened than helping me before I spend. After I buy groceries, book a trip, or grab concert tickets, it's easy for the app to tell me where the money went. But by then, the decision is already made. **Groceries are the clearest example for me...

Just threw away our third gallon of Kroger milk in 1.5 months

Third gallon of milk in the last 1.5 months that’s had a strange flavor develop well before its use by date. It’s not a sour taste either like milk would typically get when it goes bad. It’s more chemical tasting. I talked to the local store manager and they said there’s been no widespread complaints. I monitor the temp in our fridge and nothing has been abnormal. It holds temps fine. I ha...

Confusing interview invitation

So I applied for a couple of positions a week ago and just got back an invitation to schedule an interview and everything was going well until I saw that the interview location was different than the one of the store I applied to; I went to check if I made a mistake and did apply to the interview location but I did not. So my question is do they interview at other stores but I’d be hired for th...

Looking for the Best Cards That Fit Me

Hi all, I'm looking for a new CC and options for the the next one after that. I always want the best rewards (cash back is preferred but open to others) and take very good care of my credit and would like to open another account or two to build the age up over time as well as increase my overall limit (though it almost always stays below 10% regardless). I pasted the template below as well. I f...

Providence Indian Creek Green-way is still 0.9 miles after 23 years.

Any ideas on when the bridge over Indian creek on Hwy 72 west is going to be redesigned and rebuilt? https://preview.redd.it/9hc48v07ocwg1.png?width=1559&format=png&auto=webp&s=587a95cb6ed625c1b8a8b24fa01da30a71101f08 This bridge rebuild is the linchpin to extending the Providence Indian creek green-way and linking it up with the Madison Indian Creek green-way. Thanks

Butter in the US

I’ve seen a few posts lately about butter in the US. In the US butter is typically 80% milk fat. Kerrygold is 82% (and usually the most readily available at the grocery store) European style is usually \~85% and isn’t always at your regular store. Price is the biggest thing too. At my store (Kroger brand): $3.89 for 453g (4 sticks) generic $7.19 for 453g (4 sticks) high quality US ...

Pepsico (39% upside)

The Case for PepsiCo: Why the Market Is Looking at the Wrong Numbers There's a version of the PepsiCo (PEP) story that's easy to tell and almost entirely wrong. In that version, PEP is a tired consumer staples company with stagnant revenue, an earnings problem, and a beverage portfolio losing ground to private label brands and healthier alternatives. The stock is down from its highs. Growth is s...

Instacart is 100% garbage in my area now.

Stores are dead to begin with. No one is shopping with the prices where they are. I haven't gotten a single batch by 4:20pm on a Sunday. I was in a Kroger just to get something for myself, and asked a cashier if they've seen much Instacart today. Nope - they said absolutely nothing. They're stealing tips. They're squeezing customers, and groceries are unaffordable. I'm giving up on this com...

A little not about the Kroger on Wayne Ave.

Edit: a little note\* I know this Kroger has several shitty nicknames but I wanted to put this out there if you live near it and refuse to use it. I’ve been shopping at this Kroger for about 8 years since I live just a block away. It’s been updated over the past two years, and it’s so much nicer than when we first moved to the area.I can honestly say the staff here is by far the friendlies...

Harvest Market Review

Stopped by twice this weekend and here are my thoughts: Overall — I like it! Full grocery store with a coffee shop, ice cream shop, bar (beers & cocktails), study space, restaurants, salad bars, and more. Before visiting, I thought this store would sell Whole Foods-type products (organic & expensive). I was pleasantly surprised to find lots of mid-tier brands at modest prices ...

Orders from Certain Stores

Just curious because I don’t have anyone to ask really lol, but are there stores you refuse to shop at? Similarly, are there ones you absolutely love? For me, I’m a Midwest girly and love Target and Meijer the most. Layouts are super easy to navigate even with larger orders and checkout is a breeze (usually). I dislike Kroger because why do you have me guessing where everything is? 😭 I’ll...

Maryland will become the first U.S state to ban Dynamic in-store pricing based on consumer information.

Maryland's 'Protection from Predatory Pricing Act' will tackle an upcoming concern \*before\* it becomes a recognized issue. Already, services like Uber, Amazon, and DoorDash, will use a consumer's personal information to judge how much to charge two separate people who order the identical good or service at the same time and on the same day. As some fast food chains experiment with 'dynamic prici...
