Information to spread awareness of the consumer boycott protest across the political spectrum

EVERYONE needs to watch this!! An investigation into AI Grocery Store algorithms, digital pricing, consumer tracking, and price-gouging by instacart, amazon, walmart, grocery stores, and yes - even Costco.. I tried posting this in 50501 and it was almost immedietely removed, even though it's directly related to the consumer boycott. Maybe someone else wants to attempt to post there again?

Salmonella contamination found in 1 in 10 Costco whole chickens and in 1 in 6 packages of chicken breasts, according to the USDA, watchdog

I’ll start by saying that I have been a loyal Costco member for more than a decade. I love the store, and I buy a lot of food there, but recent news about its chicken is very troubling. Costco established its Lincoln Premium Poultry (LPP) plant in 2019 to produce its rotisserie and grocery chicken. Last week, an industry watchdog reported that according to USDA data, LPP has failed the USDA’s...

Salmonella contamination found in more than 1 in 10 Costco whole chickens and more than 1 and 6 packages of Costco chicken breasts, according to the USDA and an industry watchdog.

Costco established its Lincoln Premium Poultry (LPP) plant in 2019 to produce its rotisserie and grocery chicken. Last week, an industry watchdog reported that according to USDA data, LPP has failed the USDA’s salmonella standards 92% of the time since it opened in 2019. So it appears that from day one, the plant’s had a chronic contamination problem, and year after year has failed to clean it...

Is there a way to test/charge car batteries at home? Or if it's more frugal to just replace, where do you guys buy car batteries?

For some background, last year I had to get my car towed because the engine wouldn't start. It **wasn't** the battery, but the auto shop said that while the battery was in okay condition, it was very low, so they charged it up for me. I'm paraphrasing because I don't recall what they said exactly but basically said they didn't think I needed to replace the battery, it just needed charging. My car ...

Opinions on Sam's Club orders?

I rarely do Costco orders since it stresses me out due to it being a large store and things move around a lot so I can never find anything. But I'm wondering if Sam's Club is better? I get orders for it but I never take the due to worry that I'll struggle like Costco. So if any of you all have done a Sam's Club batch, what is it like?

Our DIY hydroponic fodder system

We've been working on a DIY barley fodder system for the past month or two and seem to have it all sorted out now, and just wanted to share our progress. The setup cost around $500-$600 CAD or so to put together. Most of that is the shelves ($230 at Home Depot) and the trays (boot trays from Costco at $10 each). The rest is the PVC tubing (we used tubing for a central vacuum system rather tha...

Vent Session: ADHD Child and Catholic School

I’m a 33F single mom of two. My son (11M) has ADHD, and my daughter (5F) is non-verbal and on the spectrum. So yeah… mornings are chaos, getting out the door is a daily battle. Last year, my mom suggested Catholic school for my son because our local public schools aren't the best! I was against it at first—money is tight, and everything falls on me—but after some paperwork and an assessme...

12/11/2025 Best Deals at Different Price points Still available

Update to a previous post. I'm going to bold and italicize ***MicroCenter*** deals as a quick way to differentiate as not everyone has access to those stores. These prices and availability are as of 8am Pacific time, 12/11/25. Also adding a subjective "Strength of Deal" stat based on my opinion of value for money. Edit: Adding a super budget build for those not near a MicroCenter Edit ...

2015 Jones Soda Nuka Cola Quantum vs 2025 Nuka Cola Quantum

The Fallout Jones Soda came to my local Costco, and I thought I’d share the side by side comparison between the Nuka Cola Quantum from the 12 pack, and the one I’ve had on display for 10 years, when Fallout 4 came out. I remember it was such a pain trying to get one of these originals. Target sold them exclusively, and in my area the stores only received a handful each. Customers were limited ...

Cheapest meats in Portland?

I'm looking for beef in Portland. It seems that all of the places I've gone, the meat averages between $9-11 per pound. even cheap london broils etc is aroun $7 per pound. ground chicken is $5-$6 per pound. I'm not someone who needs the highest quality beef, or really any specific cuts as I can prep them all for different dishes. so, is there a place with the cheapest meats in Portland? Chicken i...

How do they get into stores as employees?

Just started watching the show, and I was confused how they got into White Castle and Costco and did a shift? Did they do it without the company/store know? Or did they get permission to work there? And why would any store allow that to happen? Did they apply for the position and then quit a day into working there?
