Supima cotton tee shirt?

I got a couple of 100% supima tee shirts from Land’s End since I read that it’s the softest cotton ever. Turned out my Banana Republic Outlet tees (58% cotton, 38% modal, 4% spandex) are way way softer. What gives? Will the supima ones soften more after washing?
