Asking for a friend
Hello…I’m not sure where to start. I’m driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue and I’m due to have maintenance done but I’m on such a tight budget that I’d love to learn and do what I can for myself…uhm and I’m hoping there is someone out there that might be willing to share some guidance or even help me get some things done. The following is a list of things I believe I need serviced accordin...
Around 8600 miles I got a warning on my dash display that engine oil was critically low. I looked under the car and there was a big puddle of oil. I had been parked for a few hours during my kid’s soccer tournament. I had the car towed to a dealership in that town and was informed that the oil drain plug had fallen out due to improper installation from the last oil change. The technician said th...
I have a pretty much stock engine bay. but for what ever reason recently, every couple of months my alternator belt decides to snap in half and try to take my water pump belt with it. It has done this with the oem alt and a new one as well, even with the pulleys swapped. Using a straight edge the best I can, the angle doesnt even seem really out of line either. Let alone over tensioned or too loos...
Help! Car supper sluggish after replacing fuel pump.
2012 GTI MK6
Bout two weeks ago, my car started to feel super sluggish when stepping on the accelerator. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, no power behind it. Check engine came on and took it to Autozone to read code and it said it was a fuel pump issue. Yesterday I replaced the fuel pump entirely. powers on and drove it but STILL feels super sluggish. Gave up and slept it off.
I checked the next day to see ...
I've been working at AutoZone for 9 months. Hired as a PSM, and trained under a 10yr store manager.
My store is quite different than everything I read and hear online as well as other stores in my area...

i’m planning on taking my car for about a 200 mile roadtrip total. i have an sai filter otw but doesnt come till after the trip. i have a autozone little air filter on it for the time being and it through a code for sai insufficient flow. should i be worried about it for the time being?
My 2006 Hyundai Elantra has a bad alternator so my car won’t start. I’m on O’Reilly website and it gave me 4 different options and autozone gave me 5 different. Some have more stars than others but I don’t know a thing about cars and have no idea which I should get. I don’t care about price or anything I just want to make sure I’m not wasting my money on something bad or overpaying for...
I got a 2021 m340I 3 days ago and the light went on in the morning. I went to autozone after work and got this diagnostic. Anyone got this before? I only have time this weekend to fix it, is it safe to drive? 20 miles. Thank you
2014 JGC Eco diesel
Drove to work yesterday and parked it, came outside and hit remote starter, did one crank and died.
Tried to jumpstart it with no luck, battery is 8 months old, took battery to AutoZone and they charged it, still no luck.
Checked the master fuse block, nothing blown, don't see any bad fuses.
Dashboard shows 11-12V and says low battery when I try to start it. Fuel pump cycl...
Hello my fellow FiST’rs- I ended up at an auto parts store helping my buddy wrench over the weekend when I figured I should go ahead and buy oil bc I’m about due for my 2nd change. I whipped up the ol’ google to double check proper weight and I got sucked down a rabbit hole on oil specs-
From what I can see general consensus is 1.6 eco boost calls for 5w-30 updated from the 5w-20 it shipped...
My 2005 Chevrolet Impala recently had a check engine light pop on. I went to autozone for them to get a diagnostic for me. The results were "Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected." The man at auto zone gave us a bottle of throttle body cleaner. He said my boyfriend should be able to do it himself. My boyfriend found several videos but not ones using cars that look similar to m...
So I made a post about this earlier but I realized the whole positive terminal was replaced by an autozone piece. I was going to solder it but I would like to double check with someone else to make sure it’s safe because the original cable looks a lot thicker than the replacement piece and I just want to know if it’ll be ok or if I should look for a thicker double ended terminal to match the o...
Ok so I've had battery trouble since almost day 1 of owning my (bought used) 2020 Sport. It died in my garage only 4 months into ownership.
I spent hours with one tow truck guy after the next coming and no one could get it started.
THEN the very last one got it going - and he mumbled so much I honestly don't know the exact reason it worked. All I can say was that he was working in the BACK of t...

I’m fairly savvy with things engineer based. I’ve done a lot of my own work including oil changes, filter changes, battery and terminal replacements, etc.
Well I knew a terminal was bad, but I went wayyyy too long without replacing it and now, with a new battery and terminals, the battery light is on. From what I know this likely means the alternator has gone bad from having to pick up the s...
Just a heads up to those who may get this code since there isn’t a lot of info available on it (that I could find). A couple weeks ago I got a persistent CEL that was preventing my truck from running during remote starts. All my cheap OBD reader told me was to “check the service manual,” but some Google-fu and a trip to AutoZone told me that it was an unspecified humidity sensor reading high...
My 2013 Odyssey Alternator needs to be replaced. An alternator from autozone is $400-500, but I am finding cheaper alternatives online. What should I be aware of if I buy online. Are there life span issues going with a cheaper alternative?
I was driving around the other day when my check engine light came on and my trash control light came on both have not turned off since got it diagnosed at AutoZone and it said it was a intake air temperature sensor issue. Where is that located in the engine or is it a part of the mass airflow sensor?
This part pops off (not every time) when I change gears. It happened first in a parking lot, and the dude who towed it back to the house said what it was, but he had a thick accent and when I tried looking up what I thought he’d said, I got no clear answer as to what it was. Can someone tell me what part I need and where I might find it? As stated in the title, it’s a Dodge Avenger 2010. I tri...
