Noticed something interesting

28M. I noticed kind of a weird pattern in my quest for muff lately. To preface, I love animals, and I'm a little bit of an animal whisperer. Not so good with people, but somehow I can always connect with dogs and cats. I've got a cat right now and she's one of the things keeping me here. Lately, when I've been going to the pet store, I've been getting way more attention. There's a young cashier t...

ANYBODY SELLING MARIMO?

Here’s a picture of my old marimo that I bought at pets mart YEARS ago (she’s no longer with us). And I want a marimo again. I recently went to a pet store to get mealworms for my bearded dragon (who I gave away to a reptile store nearby since I didn’t have the space for him) and as I was taken to the back where they keep the mealworms i SAW a TANK FULL of MARIMOS. And I asked if I could buy...

I am trying to motivate myself to go for perfection, but…

True perfection just seems like a grind and the ROI is lackluster… Right now, I am grinding friendship. But, the loop gets boring. Then it is going to be the slog to craft everything and cook everything. I find myself asking myself why? I don’t need the prismatic shards that the statue will give me. The summit looks pretty boring. All it is is basically a vista. Golden chickens when they are o...

Just got this fatty

The last medaka my pet store had 👀 She’s a big fatty pearl galaxy 😍 Currently on quarantine in my heavily planted guppy fry tank while she gets medicated before being put in the small outside pond ♥️ And yes… I know that one guppy has a prolapse. I only JUST noticed when I watched the video back as I didn’t see in person.

Fin rot? Nipping?

On Sunday, I finally bought a Betta to add to my community tank. She is not from a chain pet store and my LFS keeps them in filtered cups, so I’m pretty sure she was healthy when I got her. Her name is Juno. Over the past few days, I’ve noticed that Juno’s fins seem to be getting more tattered. Is this fin rot? Nipping? I haven’t seen any of my platys or mollys go after her, but just beca...

New Dragon

We bought a bearded dragon for our 7 year old. We help take care of it (not sure yet if it's a boy/girl). We call it Jupiter. We got him about 4 days ago. I'm looking for advice. We bought books on how to care for him and asked lots of questions. He's so good with our 7yr old holding him. But we are having trouble getting him to eat. I've been to three pet stores and we have followed their advice ...

My new jumping spider refuses to eat. HELP

I got a new baby on May 25th from an expo and he will not eat. My girlfriend and I have tried super small crickets and micro mealworms. Once he lunged and killed the mealworm but didn't eat any of it. His booty is getting super small and we don't know what to do. Pet stores near us have been out of fruit flies so we haven't been able to try them. Any advice would be super super appreciated!!

Enclosure feedback

We've had two girls for about a month now. They came from a home where they lived in a single 2 floor pet store cage with a single wooden box to share. So I feel like this is a huge improvement for them and they've shown plenty of positive behavior. We're considering expanding from 2 x 6 to 3 x 6 for more width though. Other than that any tips/feedback to their current environment would be app...

Getting a puppy on Sunday - do we need a stroller??

We are picking up our new puppy, Lady, on Sunday and I’m debating whether to purchase a stroller for her to use before she gets all her shots. We want to train her to be a therapy dog so lots of safe socialization is our goal. I’m thinking I’d use it for her to join our adult golden on his evening walks as well as using it to go to pet stores, restaurants, Home Depot, etc. I’d also plan on...

Cheaper pine pellets for cat litter?

Hi all! We just moved to Seattle from Southern California and are looking for the cheapest place to buy cat-safe pine pellets for litter. We used to go to Tractor Supply, but are now about an hour away from the nearest location. So far we’ve been buying the pet store stuff (Feline Pine) but wanted to check if anyone knows of a cheaper option? Thank you!!

Fish are dying and I don't know why

Something strange is happening to the aquarium. I haven't added any new products, the parameters are normal, and the ammonium and nitrites are zero. 3-4 days ago, I bought a lava stone, Javanese moss and 6 rasbora espei at a pet store. As a result, 3 fish have died in the last two days and one is on the way. I can't figure out how or why it happened. The pet store is fine, I took all the fish, s...

What to know before getting a chameleon?

I work at a pet store and since starting have wanted a chameleon. I think they are so cool. I currently have a betta fish, and that’s like an hour of work a week plus feeding and stuff. I already know caring for a chameleon is bit more complicated than some other reptiles, and I never had a reptile before. So, what do I need for one to be happy and healthy? And what kind of regular care shou...

about my hammy

hey so I've recently got my hammy a new enclosure. for context, he used to stay in this pet store like cage that was like 50x40 and gave him what I thought was necessary + wheel. recently I've discovered how to properly offer a hamster the care he needs. after getting informed I felt absolutely terrible for what I had offered him and I decided to give him exactly what he needs. and so I bought mo...

What to do when shrimp are breeding extremely fast??

Got a shrimp tank around 4 months ago and things have gotten severely out of hand. I got 6 shrimp and followed all the typical routines to find that a couple had gotten pregnant. I was excited at first and then a couple of babies turned into over 55 shrimp and growing everyday. It has become way too crowded in the tank and I fear that if I get a bigger tank they will just fill that one out in no t...

White tips on my boys’ fins?

I rescued this guy from a pet store 8 days ago and he's doing really well! He's a crown tail betta, and my question is does it look like those white tips on his fins are new growth? I've read it can be rot or part of his color pattern too, but I have no idea how to be sure. He was pretty ragged when I took him and he's looking better now.

I'm new and I messed up

I'm brand new to this as of a month ago. I checked my water parameters yesterday and they were SO BAD. PH was around 6. Ammonia around 4ppm. Nitrite around 5ppm. Nitrate was 180ppm. I panicked. I did about a 90% water change. Then I put in new filter media after rinsing out part of the old one in the old tank water and putting it in with the new media so I wouldn't lose the bacteria. The tank ...

Where can I buy Hissing Cockroaches in the UK?

I'm really struggling to find any! I've wanted some for years, but only now have been able to get some and there are none available. I'd like to buy from a reputable, ethical seller, but I cant even find any pet stores that have them. Where can I look? Does anyone know any sellers or stockists?
