When a mouse or rat or other creature breaks in (burrows in, chews in, etc) a pet shop...do they exterminate it? Or, like, resell it?

I've been thinking a lot about this. Like...it's free pets. You could use the cockroaches to feed the lizards. Is it a boon to have that kind of "infestation", then? Or is it still bad for them? Idk I'm serious though.
