How a Local NIMBY Went Viral and Made My Town Famous

Hello r/neoliberal. Longtime fan. Relatively frequent commenter. DT regular. I live in this town that you may have heard about in a recently viral Politico article. The town is called Fayetteville, Georgia. It's a nice, cozy little town south of Atlanta with a long history as a white flight community. Fayetteville is divided in half by Stonewall Avenue, named after Stonewall Jackson. We have t...

1st Cheesesteak

For some reason I had never made cheesesteaks. Picked up a package of shaved steak from grocery store (Kroger brand) and some bollio rolls. Fired up the flattop and threw on seasoned meat. Added grilled onion and mushrooms with provolone and white american. Quick and easy dinner.I know it is kinda cheating but it was great.

Interview on a Saturday?

Long story short I worked at Kroger for almost a year quit like a month ago. Proper 2 week notice and everything turns out grass isn't always greener so I applied to come back to a different store just to have a fresh start. Anyways I got an email to schedule an interview and the only day offered was Saturday that seemed weird to me. I was wondering if anyone else has had an interview scheduled o...

What a day 💀

Had some lady come into the store yelling at other customers, running around from aisle to aisle and starting arguments with other employees, and she has the audacity to come over to my aisle I was in and starts yelling at ME about how they didn’t have any disability carts in the front, screaming how she will sue ME specifically ME for the store not having any disability carts left and that she ...

Mentally spiraling after miscalculating a grocery trip

Just needed to vent here. Times are tough. A local Kroger store advertised 400 bonus fuel points if you spend $50 there on one transaction. I went, I got things I for sure needed, used all coupons I could think of, and my total was at $50.47. All was fine and dandy until I get home and realize I only spent $47, with the extra $3.47 being sales tax. I’m not used to being in a state that has sal...

How is the market in Louisville, KY?

Any shoppers from Louisville? I tried searching in the subreddit but only seen a few old posts. I just switched from uber eats to instacart and it pays pretty decent, i say better than ubereats. How much can you make shopping? I usually work in the suburbs as there isn’t really any grocery stores in the city, and I end up bouncing from Kroger to Kroger, which is my main store. Any tips for worki...

Walmart signals it may raise prices in response to soaring fuel costs

Walmart signaled Thursday that it may raise retail prices in the coming months to compensate for soaring fuel costs as a result of the Iran war. The big-box retailer reported overall positive first-quarter earnings. Revenue rose 7.3% to $177.8 billion, and U.S. same-store sales grew 4.1%, thanks in part to e-commerce and revenue from membership fees. But spiking fuel prices took a big bite out o...

Keep it simple, I said...

After last week's ambitious birria pizza, I planned to keep it simple this week. I thought, that I would just do a plain sausage pizza. Then, what would be the harm in adding some pepperoni? Everybody loves pepperoni! Could I leave it at just that? Heh. What if I added some color? Maybe a green pepper? Couldn't leave well enough alone. So, off to the market I go. The first store, I head to the p...

Too Good to Go and Flash food in small town NW Ohio?

In order to utilize Flashfood in NW Ohio I have to drive a minimum of 45 minutes to the closest participating location. The only participating Too Good to Go store in the area is Circle K and it's usually just junk food that they provide. Is there another app or service that might work better for those of us who live in small towns with limited grocery options? (I'm talking to you Kroger!)

Kroger Leggings

A decade ago I lived in Texas and the Kroger stores had these leggings. They’re buttery soft and feel amazing. They fit me at my biggest and still fit me at my smallest. My roommate gifted them to me since they worked there. Mine have developed chub rub holes over the past 10 years and I want to replace them but I have no clue what the brand was! The pic is one of the pairs I own. They aren...

Gluten free bagels

Bagels used to be one of my favorite foods before I found out I have a gluten sensitivity. I’ve been gluten free for about 2 years now and have yet to find a gf bagel that I really like. I’ve tried canyon bakehouse bread and bagels and was not impressed at all. I recently discovered bfree foods and their rustic oat loaf is my favorite gluten free bread I’ve tried, but I haven’t seen bagels...
