How long before getting 5% cash back on quarterly deals

I just got the Discover It card about a month ago. This quarter is 5% cash back at grocery stores, etc. I used it for my groceries last weekend and just wondered how long before it shows up. Is it after the quarter ends or should I get it sooner? And also how do I know which stores it works with? I'm aware it doesn't work for Walmart or Target.
