Orchids

Hi! I’m an idiot and I meant to order an orchid for my MIL bc she’s having surgery and I’ve been giving her orchids so I want to leave her a little pretty thing to look at while she recovers. I wanted to get her something special, not your typical Kroger/walmart guys (lol bc I already got her those) so I’m just wondering if y’all happened to see any striking looking orchids for sale in...

Has anyone ever shipped from Van Leeuwen? Why is their website a hot mess?

I'm putting together a guide to shipping in general and places I've ordered from specifically. I realized Van Leeuwen is one of the bigger ones I hadn't tried shipping. Mainly because we get them in stores here. But the same is true of McConnell's and Jeni's, and I have shipped from both to get special editions, seasonal stuff, hard-to-find flavors. The difference seems to be VL's website has iss...

Refused to accept return and give refund because cheese slicer had been used

I just bought a GoodCook cheese slicer at Kroger and found that it when it comes to cutting cheese it can't, so to speak, cut the mustard. It's less good at cutting cheese than a popsicle stick would be, turned the wrong way. When I tried to return it for a refund, I was told they can't give me a refund because I had used it. How is one to know a product doesn't work if they haven't used it? I'm s...

Family trip to Cinci/Covington KY ideas needed.

I live in Columbus. We’re likely going to have my 10 year old step son for the summer. We usually go to The Ohio State Fair but thinking we may skip & do a mini state line vacation. He’s never been in that area & we’ve never taken him any place that far. We could use the getaway too. I’m trying to get a plan & a budget together. Hotel for a few days, Jungle Jim’...

Invasive little black ants

Hey guys, I think this subreddit is mostly for pet ants and ant farms, but I thought it was a good place to ask how I deal with this. I live in a very small apartment, about 550 sq ft. I am on the 2nd floor (Top floor of this complex, not ground level). I am getting these tiny black ants in the kitchen and bathroom, mostly. I have tried using Raid ant baits, the little square ones that have an o...

I went to the station

wow. that place is awesome. the selection of booze is great. I just spent minutes browsing the aisles on how they're shelved, I thought it went by abv, but it's basically price. navigating the place was easy. beer is to the right wall ,wine and stuff is in the middle back, and some food and sodas and snacks are to the back left didn't someone say something about Vernors ginger ale? they sell it a...

Working at Stevens Point Metro Market; how is it really and would you recommend?

I looked at the employee reddit for all Kroger owned grocery stores, and it was overall pretty negative. Hoping to get some honest feedback from employees or former employees at the local store. Thanks in advance.

Store Closed for the good of it

Hi guys, I've actually been looking at this reddit page for a while, when I started about two years ago actually but I just wanted to say that my store 784 is closing but this is possibly the best thing that could have happened. I feel like this store has really chained me down, not in a bad way but overall it made me and several others so comfortable that we didn't want to leave, as a student I d...

Wife and I want to challenge ourselves to eat healthy and nutritious meals for the next 7 days under a budget of $120 while mostly avoiding processed foods, and only making home-made meals. How can we accomplish that?

My wife and I realized we are overspending a lot on groceries where we don't need to. For this week, we want to make *only* homemade meals with groceries we buy tomorrow for a budget of roughly $60/person for the entire week. But, we don't generally eat anything that is processed or microwaved. We just want to learn to budget better while still eating healthy and nutritious food we make ourselves....

Kroger's Simple Truth Protein Bowls! 180-190 calories

Very good for the price, IMO! I like how the ingredients are pretty reasonable and relatively noninflammatory. If you find $4.50 to be too steep, since they're store brand they somewhat regularly go on sale for \~$3 dollars. They have other bowls in this line, too, at \~300 calories and I really liked both the Cheesy Chipotle and Beef & Barley bowls as dinners, genuinely tasting pretty goo...

With Mayo gone, where can I get 6 pack tomato plants?

Buying 6, five dollar tomatoes in cups seems pricey at Lowe’s, HD, or Kroger … Mayo was oddly pricey on many things, but I could always get a 6 pack of tomatoes for 6 bucks. What garden stores or local nurseries would have a 6 count pack of tomato plants at a fair price?

Safeway closures are accelerating in 2026 — the 111-year-old grocery chain is shutting down more stores and communities are being left behind

If you haven't been keeping up with the **Safeway closures** wave, buckle up — because it's getting bad. Safeway, which was **founded in 1915 in Idaho**, making it one of the oldest grocery chains in America, is continuing to slash its store count well into 2026. And it's not slowing down. Here's what's already happened or confirmed: 🔴 **Washington D.C. (Hechinger Mall)** — The Maryland ...

About to take DSD job with no training. Old receiver told she couldn’t train newbie before she retired yet other stores got to 🫠 She’s now gone and I’m going in blind. Store manager wasn’t even posting for a new receiver if that tells you anything

Part of me wonders why I’m going back to Kroger. Need specific hours and don’t want to be overnight so that takes most of the available jobs in our area. I started as overnight grocery went to dairy got promoted to new store as overnight GM, left Kroger, went back as merchandiser/reset team. This is the worst store manager everyone I know has ever worked with. She literally sits in her offic...

Coconut milk suggestions

Hey all, What brand of coconut milk are you using? I need a good brand of canned coconut milk for curries and similar recipes. I used Thai kitchen prior to learning about monkey labor. I switched to Goya but it is not as thick or flavorful. I would prefer something I could buy at a Kroger or Whole Foods or nearby store. I read chefs choice is good but don’t really want to spend $42 plus shippin...
